A popular Nollywood producer, Toyin Abraham has revealed reasons behind her decision to cast Emeka Ike in her latest movie titled , ‘Malaika’
The veteran actor who has been off-screen for over 13 years featured prominently in the movie premiered in Lagos on December 17 and scheduled to make its theatrical debut on December 22.
Speaking on Thursday during an interview on TVC , Abraham explained that regardless of events in the past, the actor deserved a second chance.
She praised Ike for playing the role given to him in the new movie, saying, ” he killed the role.”
“I have been talking to Uncle Emeka since 2022, I know he has been off for a long time, everything we heard; then obviously I wasn’t as big as this so I messaged him.
“My manager Otunba Seun got his number for me and I told him to come back and he said ‘what if everything that happened,’ and I said don’t worry even if you did it you have suffered enough after 13 years.
“ I don’t mind taking risks, it does not matter because I see you in this role and I feel everybody deserves a second chance. It is okay.”
CRUX NEWS reports that Ike recently revealed why he left acting and the challenges he faced in his first marriage.
The actor alleged that Suzanne Emma, his ex-wife, caused him to lose millions of naira in property over allegations of abuse.
