Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has been ruled out “for the time being” due to a hamstring tear, the club confirmed on Sunday. Kane was substituted in the 33rd minute of Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
The club’s statement revealed that the England captain sustained a small muscle tear in the back of his right thigh. As a result, Kane will miss Bayern’s upcoming German Cup last-16 clash against defending champions Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
According to German tabloid Bild, Kane is expected to be sidelined for approximately two weeks, which means he could miss several fixtures for Bayern. Following the Leverkusen match, Bayern will face Heidenheim, Shakhtar Donetsk in Gelsenkirchen, Mainz in the Bundesliga, and RB Leipzig before the year ends.
Since joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, Kane has only missed two games due to injury, both due to a back issue at the end of the 2023-24 season. This season, he has been in prolific form, scoring 20 goals in 19 matches across all competitions.
Despite the draw against Dortmund, Bayern remain seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. In the Champions League, they sit in 13th place with three wins and two losses after five games.
