A staff of Enugu State Transport Company, ENTRACO, has been killed alongside one other person in an attack by gunmen in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State on Sunday.
Two other passengers were also reportedly abducted in the attack which occurred at Akoro Valley in Opanda.
According to a community source, the attacked occurred at about 5pm on Sunday when the company’s bus was conveying passengers from Nsukka metropolis to Adani, in Uzo-Uwani.
The source also said, several other passengers sustained including a retired headmaster also sustained bullet wounds from the attack.
The community source said, “They were attacked around Akoro Valley in Opanda. The bus driver and another woman who was returning from ‘omugwo’ died on the spot. They abducted two of the passengers including a popular beans seller known as SY Beans and another passenger.
“About six of the victims were severely wounded with bullets while those who acted fast managed to escape the kidnappers.”
As at the time of filling this report, the Enugu State Police Command has not confirmed the attack.
