Benedict Akika, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a key supporter of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. Popularly known as “Bene,” Mr. Akika was abducted from his residence on Wednesday night in Idi Ape, Olorunda-Aba, located in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the gunmen, wearing masks, stormed Akika’s home late at night, forcefully taking him away to an unknown location. An unconfirmed report also indicates that a life may have been lost during the abduction, further heightening tension in the community.
The Oyo State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. However, in a brief message sent via phone, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed that an investigation into the matter has already commenced and that more details will be provided as they become available.
