In a harrowing incident, approximately twenty travelers were abducted by gunmen on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway on Sunday. The ambush occurred near the Sagamu area command of the Nigeria Police Force and the township of Ilishan.
This alarming event has not yet been confirmed by the state police authorities. However, Wemmy Osude, a resident and chairman of the Ilishan Development Council, provided details about the incident.
According to Osude, one of the victims, a resident of Ilisan Remo, was shot in the knee and is currently receiving medical treatment at Babcock University Teaching Hospital.
Osude stated, “Information reaching me right now confirms a kidnapping incident between the Area Command and Ilisan City Gate.
A resident was reportedly shot in the knee and is receiving medical attention at Babcock Teaching Hospital. Other victims were taken into the bush.”

He further mentioned that he had spoken to the injured resident, who is reported to be in stable condition. Osude also discussed the situation with the Sagamu Area Commander, expressing hope that security agents would track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted individuals.
The community remains on edge as they await further updates and action from the authorities to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped travelers.
