The 6th edition of the Guaranty Trust Holding Company Fashion Weekend has kicked off in Lagos, welcoming local and international fashion entrepreneurs and enthusiasts from around the world to exchange ideas and showcase their latest designs.
The event aims to provide Nigerian fashion entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills required to keep up with the current fashion trends, through a series of fashion masterclasses.
Renowned American fashion designer, Sergio Hudson, delivered a powerful speech on “Unveiling The Path To Fulfilling Dreams”, where he emphasized the importance of passion and love for the fashion industry to succeed.
Hudson highlighted that the industry is structured around designers, without them, there would be no fashion magazines, stylists, or even the need for them.
Beauty Editor and Writer, Julee Wilson, also graced the stage to speak on the topic: “Black is Beyond Beautiful”, where she praised the beauty of being black and the different fashion content emanating from Africa.
International hairstylist, Jawara Wauchope, gave a masterclass on “Hair Sculpting”, where she explained the creative process of making contemporary hair styles for events.
Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company, stated that the fashion weekend has become a hallmark event in both the local and global fashion calendar.
The current edition promises to offer valuable opportunities for hundreds of local fashion enterprises to tap into new markets and position themselves for sustained growth.

The weekend will also feature a series of masterclasses led by esteemed experts from the fashion industry, including Torlowei, Duaba Serwa, Bruce and Glen, Sukeina, Theophilio, Loza Maléombho, and many others.
These masterclasses are designed for entrepreneurs and fashion enthusiasts and will provide valuable insights into building and sustaining fashion brands in the present and future.
The event will also maintain the highly anticipated runway show, showcasing a curated collection of bold and captivating fashion statements by Africa’s finest alongside global brands.
