Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved the appointment of three second-class Emirs for the regions of Rano, Gaya, and Karaye, effective immediately.
The announcement was made by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director General of Media and Publicity to the governor, in a statement released to newsmen in Kano.
The newly appointed emirs are:
– Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz Karaye as the Emir of Karaye, who was previously the District Head of Rogo.
– Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar as the Emir of Rano.
– Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Gaya as the Emir of Gaya. He was previously the emir of the defunct Gaya emirate before being recently dethroned.
Governor Abba Yusuf congratulated the new emirs and urged them to be custodians of culture, peace, and unity within their respective emirates.

On Tuesday, Governor Yusuf signed into law the creation of three second-class emirates in the state. The new boundaries for these emirates are as follows:
– Rano emirate will cover Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government Areas.
– Gaya emirate will cover Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government Areas.
– Karaye emirate will cover Karaye and Rogo Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the signing ceremony at the Kano State government house, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the establishment of these emirates is a testament to the government’s recognition of the traditional institution.
