Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda has lauded the religious tolerance and harmonious relationship between Muslims and Christians in the state.
Governor Radda stated this when a team of Catholic bishops led by Bishop Hassan Mathew-Kukah of Sokoto Diocese, paid him a courtesy visit on Monday in Katsina.
He noted that there has never been a serious crisis between the two religions in the state, adding that this has proved the high level of religious tolerance between them.
He also expressed the hope that the peaceful relationship would be sustained.
Radda, who congratulated the Christian leadership for having a new Catholic Diocese in Katsina, promised more support toward the successful installation of an indigenous Bishop to take charge of the Diocese.
Earlier, Mathew-Kukah said they were in Katsina for the Tuesday’s installation of Mamman Musa, an indigene of the state as the Bishop of the newly established Diocese.
According to him, this development has separated Katsina from the Sokoto Catholic Diocese to operate independently.
He also thanked the governor for his support to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state.
In a remark, Musa, the new Bishop of the Katsina Catholic Diocese, reaffirmed his readiness to collaborate with the state government towards sustaining peace and harmony in the state.
Also speaking, the CAN Chairman in the state, Shuaibu Liti said the creation of the Katsina Diocese would bring about growth of the church and overall development of the state.
