The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season is set to kick off in six days, and Gombe United FC has appointed Mohammed Babaganaru as its new head coach for the season.
The announcement was made by Mr Abubakar Abubakar, the General Manager of Gombe United FC, who explained that Babaganaru was being brought on board to replace Aliyu Zubairu, who left the club in July to sign for El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.
Abubakar emphasized that Babaganaru’s appointment was the result of an exhaustive search for an experienced coach who could uphold the excellent history of the club.
He cited Babaganaru’s coaching experience with top clubs in the NPFL and his achievements with the different clubs he had coached as the reasons for his selection.
The General Manager also pointed out that the club did not appoint Babaganaru based on personal interest, but rather because he was the right man for the job.
He prayed that the new coach would not only sustain the good works of Zubairu but improve upon them for the good of the club.

Babaganaru, who signed a one-year contract with the Gombe-based club, acknowledged that there was work to be done, especially since top players had exited the club.
He stated that he would need to build the team, a task that would not be easy given the short time he had to prepare for the league which commences on Sept. 9.
He appealed to the supporters and management of the club not to expect instant results as building a new team takes time, hence the need for patience and prayer.
Babaganaru had previously led Kano Pillars to win the NPFL title in 2013 and had also managed Nasarawa United, Wikki Tourists and El Kanemi Warriors.
