Chana Masala is a delicious and tasty India dish which originated from the Punjab region of the country. The dish is a combination of chickpeas and and tomato spice, which is reflected in its name “Chana” and “Masala” meaning chickpea and spiced gravy in India. Despite it’s origin, the dish is cooked in numerous ways across regions in India.
To treat yourself to a sumptuous meal of Chana Masala, you need the following;
Ingredients
Chickpea ( raw or canned)
Herbs ( onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric)
Tomato
Grinded or chilli pepper
Spices ( cinnamon, curry, coriander, bay leaves, cloves)
Salt
Edible oil
How To Prepare
1. Wash and soak dried chickpea for atleast 8 hours or overnight.
2. Cook the chickpea in a pressure pot or under high heat till its tender.
3. Steam fry all your spices and herbs, then add salt to taste.
4. Add your tomato and pepper to the mixture to make a paste.
5. Add the already cooked chickpea to the mixture, add water and allow to simmer for at least 15 minutes, it is done when it thickens.
