The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Works, has ordered an urgent assessment of Section 111 of the Kano-Maiduguri Road, which was recently cut off by flooding in Bauchi State.
The ministry has dispatched a technical team to evaluate the extent of the damage and propose emergency solutions to alleviate the hardship faced by the Malori-Guskuri community.
The directive was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Works. During a meeting with contractors, Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, underscored the necessity for timely completion of projects funded under the tax credit scheme. He also disclosed the termination of the contract for Section 1 of the Kano-Maiduguri Road with E Contractors due to the expiration of the contract period.
Umahi emphasized the importance of constructing durable roads and called for increased commitment from all stakeholders involved in the ongoing infrastructure projects. He highlighted significant projects being carried out under the tax credit scheme by companies such as Dangote, BUA, and Mainstream Energy.

In response to the recent flooding and its impact on the Kano-Maiduguri Highway, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed had earlier called for the Federal Government’s intervention.
The minister reassured the public that the government is dedicated to delivering quality infrastructure and asked for patience as efforts continue to address the challenges posed by the recent flooding and other ongoing projects.
