1. National Assembly Elections Were Schedule In Nigeria
On this day in 1999, the elections into the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly; Senate and House of Representatives were scheduled.
According to reports, three political parties vied for 469 seats in a bicameral legislature. 360 members were for the House of Representatives and 109 were for senators and the Peoples Democratic Party recorded a landslide victory in the National Assembly election winning highest seats of 59 out of 109 Senate seats and 206 of the 360 House seats.
2. Clampdown On Illegal Imports Of Toxic Electronic Waste By The Federal Government Of Nigeria
On this day in 2009, the Federal government ordered Customs Service, security and environmental agencies to clamp down on illegal imports of potentially toxic electronic waste.
3. Egypt’s Court Upheld Sentences For The Murder Of Football Fans At The 2012 Stadium Riot
On this day in 2015, a top court in Egypt upheld death sentences for 10 men over the violent death of football fans in the Port Said Stadium riot of 2012.

On this day in 2018, Japan’s Isuzu Motors reopened a vehicle assembly plant in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The assembly plant was previously occupied by U.S’ General Motors.
5. The Station Nightclub Fire In United States
On this day in 2003, fire broke out in a nightclub called The Station in West Warwick, Rhodes Island, United States killing 100 people and injuring 230 others.The fire was as result of a pyrotechnic display during a concert.
6. Euromedian Protesters Were Killed In Kyiv, Ukraine
On this day in 2014, many protesters were killed by Police snipers in the Euromedian protest movement in the capital city of Kyiv, Ukraine. The protest eventually culminated into Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity.
