In a concerted effort to combat criminality, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, in collaboration with special forces from the Guards Brigade, DSS, and local hunters, conducted a raid on known kidnappers’ camps at Gidan Dogo and Kweti Forest in Kaduna State, leading to the arrest of four suspects.
The operation, carried out on Friday, resulted in the apprehension of Yahaya Abubakar, 25, from Mpape; Mohammed Mohamed, 32, from Zuba (an ex-convict); Umar Aliyu, 20; and Nura Abdullahi, 32, also an ex-convict from Kubwa and Zuba hills.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the suspects confessed to being members of a notorious bandit syndicate known as ‘Mai One Million,’ which has been implicated in numerous kidnappings and other serious crimes in the FCT and surrounding areas.
The operation involved a shootout between the bandits and security forces, resulting in the bandits fleeing and the successful rescue of several victims. The illegal structures used by the kidnappers in the camps were destroyed.
“The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families and loved ones,” Adeh stated. “The commissioner of police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, praised the security operatives for their dedicated efforts in fighting criminality in the nation’s capital. He reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the security and safety of FCT residents.”
This successful raid underscores the ongoing commitment of the FCT Police Command and allied security forces to rid the region of criminal elements and protect its citizens.
