Revokes Land Allocations Over Unpaid Fees
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has taken decisive action by revoking land allocations in Abuja due to non-payment of Certificate of Occupancy fees.
High-Profile Figures Affected by Land Revocation
Among those losing their land rights are notable personalities like former President Muhammed Buhari, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume. According to reports from the FCT Administration, these revocations span across 762 plots in the prestigious Maitama II district of Abuja.

The revocation was publicized through a statement released to Channels Television by Lere Olayinka, the Special Adviser to the FCT Minister, highlighting the strict enforcement of land payment obligations.

Further Threats to Land Owners
In another development, the minister issued a stern warning to additional landowners, including the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Kingsley Chinda, former Senate Presidents Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute, and Senate Chief Whip Tahir Monguno, among 610 others. They have been given a two-week ultimatum to settle their outstanding Certificate of Occupancy fees or face similar revocation.

This move follows months of reminders and pleas from the FCT Minister to residents, especially those in hybrid areas, to clear their debts to prevent such drastic measures. The administration’s stance underscores its commitment to ensuring compliance with land allocation terms and fostering development within the capital territory.
