The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning to contractors involved in ongoing projects across Abuja, stating that those who fail to meet deadlines or maintain high standards will be removed from their contracts. Wike made these remarks during a recent inspection tour of various development projects in the FCT.
During the visit, the minister expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work in some locations, particularly highlighting the need for urgency in critical infrastructural developments, including roads, public buildings, and other essential services. “Any contractor who cannot meet up with the work schedule or quality expectations will be kicked out,” Wike asserted, reinforcing the seriousness of his administration’s stance on inefficiency. He also pointed out that new contractors ready to deliver timely and quality results would be brought in to replace underperformers.
