One-time governor of Yobe State, Senator Bukar Ibrahim is dead.
Senator Ibrahim reportedly died at the age of 75 in Saudi Arabia after a protracted illness, The Punch reports.
The late former governor who served Yobe State for eight years between May 29, 1999 and May 29, 2007 was born in 1949.
He earlier served as the pioneer elected governor of the state from January 1992 to November 1993 in the aborted Third Republic.
In 2007, he was elected to the Senate to represent Yobe East.
He ran for re-election in the 2011 Senatorial contest for Yobe East on the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) platform, and won until 2015 when he quit the Senate seat for Ibrahim Gaidam, also a former governor of Yobe State.
