Ex-President Jonathan: Fubara, Wike Must Unite for Rivers

Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, emphasized the necessity for cooperation between Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for the welfare of the state’s people.

At an event organized by the Rivers State Government to inaugurate the Trans-Kalabari Road Project, Jonathan highlighted concerns over the challenges of power transition in the country, urging collaboration between outgoing and incoming governors.

Jonathan stressed the importance of stability in Rivers State, citing its critical role in the Niger Delta. He urged Fubara and Wike to prioritize the state’s development, emphasizing the need to avoid political tension.

The former President emphasized the significance of infrastructure projects like the Trans-Kalabari Road in promoting economic growth and enhancing security within the state.

Jonathan concluded by urging all political actors to work together in the interest of the Rivers people, emphasizing the principle of give-and-take for the state’s prosperity and stability.

Jonathan praised Fubara for initiating the road project, recognizing its significance for the development of the region.

“When I was invited to the flag-off, I thought that only a person with vision and commitment to his people’s development would undertake such a task.

“Thus, Your Excellency, I commend you for your vision and the bravery to embark on this project, as it will not be an easy feat.”

The former President urged the people of Rivers State to support the governor, noting that he “has demonstrated in this brief period that he is someone who is focused and committed to elevating Rivers State to a greater level.”

“We require utmost cooperation,” he concluded.
