Everton Football Club received some much-needed clarity after their penalty for breaching Premier League financial rules was reduced on appeal.
The Toffees had initially been docked 10 points, but the penalty was reduced to six on Monday.
This result leaves them in the 15th position in the league table with 25 points, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Speaking to reporters, Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche, said that the reduction in points penalty has brought some finality and clarity to the club.
He added that the team can now focus on taking advantage of the situation and moving forward.
The manager also praised his players for their performance during the appeal process, saying that the word “galvanized” was used early on but he thought the performance levels were good.
Dyche further elaborated that the noise around the appeal process got bigger and bigger, and the players were eagerly waiting for the decision.
He said that the reduction in points penalty has brought some relief to the club and the players can now concentrate on their upcoming games.
However, the club still faces another potential points deduction after being charged with a separate breach of the league’s profitability and sustainability rules in January.
Everton’s next match is against West Ham United, who are currently in the eighth position in the league table.
