The Association of Professional Ushers in Nigeria (APUN) has called on the Federal Government to include ushering and event management in the curricula of schools at all levels.
This, according to Olúwakémi Oyèdéjì, the National President of APUN, would enable children to develop their creativity and entrepreneurial skills from an early age and prepare them for the future.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Oyèdéjì opined that entrepreneurship courses, including ushering services and event management, should be made mandatory from primary school to tertiary level.
This, she said, would help to widen the creative and entrepreneurial potential of young people and ultimately, have a positive impact on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.
Oyèdéjì also urged the government to create a conducive and regulated environment for the ushering and event management businesses to thrive.
She believes that the private sector can make significant contributions to the growth and development of any nation’s economy and that the ushering industry is no exception.
