Tottenham secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in a hard-fought and entertaining Friday Night Football game.
The game saw Dejan Kulusevski emerge as the star of the show as he scored one and created another goal.
Despite their victory, Spurs picked up another absentee after Yves Bissouma received a red card.
It was the quality of Spurs’ first moment that saw them take the lead.
Kulusevski produced an exceptional pass which was duly nodded home by Richarlison (45+2) as Tottenham set a new record for the most away goals scored.
Despite Nottingham Forest’s valiant efforts to match Spurs throughout the game, they were unable to find the back of the net.
In the second half, Nottingham Forest thought they had equalised early on, but Anthony Elanga’s tap-in was correctly ruled out by VAR for offside.
Tottenham made the most of the moment and added a second goal to their tally.
Under pressure from Heung-min Son, Matt Turner’s lax pass was intercepted by Kulusevski (65), who then powered home into the far corner of the net.
However, Tottenham’s victory was marred by Bissouma’s red card.
His studs-up challenge on Ryan Yates resulted in a straight red card, meaning he will now miss the next three games.
Spurs cannot afford to have any more missing players as they head into the busy Christmas period.
With this win, Tottenham remain in fifth place and are now level on 33 points with Manchester City ahead of the remaining games this weekend.
On the other hand, Nottingham Forest are still in 16th place, five points above the drop zone.
