Chelsea Football Club secured a much-needed victory by beating Sheffield United 2-0 at home in the Premier League.
The win will relieve their manager, Mauricio Pochettino, whose job was reportedly on the line after the club’s recent defeats to Manchester United and Everton.
Although the visitors gave a spirited performance, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (54) and Nicolas Jackson (61) scored quickly after the break.
The goals were enough to secure the three points and move Chelsea up to 11th place in the league table.
On the other hand, Sheffield United, who had won just two of their league matches this season, remained at the bottom of the table.
Chelsea was keen to maintain their good home form against Sheffield United, who had recently secured a win against Brentford.
However, the visitors frustrated their hosts in the first half and Chelsea failed to register a shot inside the box at home in a league game for the first time since 2010.
Cameron Archer of Sheffield United almost scored a spectacular goal, but his curling effort was deflected just wide of the far post by Chelsea debutant Djordje Petrovic.

Pochettino’s half-time talk worked wonders as Chelsea came out firing in the second half.
Palmer fed Raheem Sterling in the box, and Sterling’s fiercely struck cross was diverted into the net by Palmer himself, giving Chelsea the crucial breakthrough.
After a video assistant referee checked for offside, the goal was allowed to stand.
Seven minutes later, Sterling was felled in the box, but as everyone stood still waiting for a possible penalty, Palmer reacted quickest to centre for Jackson to side-foot home from virtually on the line.
The scruffy goal doubled Chelsea’s lead and ended Sheffield United’s resistance.
Overall, it was a much-improved performance by Chelsea in the second half, and the win will provide a much-needed boost to their confidence.
