The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially transferred ownership of 14 properties, which were previously forfeited to the Federal Government, to the Government and people of Enugu State.
In a ceremony held at the EFCC corporate headquarters in the Jabi area of Abuja, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede handed over the properties to Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah. This significant handover marks the culmination of a process that began in 2007 and underscores the fruitful partnership between the Federal Government and the states.
Olukoyede noted, “The journey to this day has spanned approximately 17 years. Some of the properties were forfeited during this period, and despite the Enugu State Government revoking titles to several of them, the EFCC has diligently managed these assets.”
Expressing gratitude for the transfer, Governor Mbah thanked the EFCC chair and the commission for facilitating the return of these assets to the people of Enugu State. He emphasized the importance of the occasion and extended his profound appreciation to the EFCC team.

“These assets were originally forfeited to the Federal Government. I also want to acknowledge the crucial role played by the President in swiftly responding to our request to return these assets to Enugu State. Without his proactive approach, we wouldn’t be here today,” Governor Mbah remarked.
The properties include residential houses, transmission equipment for radio and television stations, as well as a medical facility building, among others.
