The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of eight individuals suspected of internet fraud in Akwa Ibom State.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the arrests were made on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Osongama Extension area, based on actionable intelligence.
The statement detailed the recovery of seven laptops, 13 smartphones, two wristwatches, and one router from the suspects.
Oyewale stated that the suspects are set to be charged in court following the conclusion of investigations.
“EFCC operatives from the Uyo Zonal Command conducted an early morning sting operation on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Osong Ama Extension in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals suspected of internet fraud based on credible intelligence.
The items recovered in the operation include seven laptops, 13 smartphones, two wristwatches, and one router,” the statement concluded.
