Severe winter weather hit Bulgaria over the weekend, bringing with it strong winds and heavy precipitation that left hundreds of thousands of people without electricity.
Due to the life-threatening dangers, damaged power lines are yet to be repaired, leaving many areas without power.
The north and northeast of Bulgaria were the hardest hit regions, with water supplies also being interrupted in some areas. In addition, mobile phone services were not operational in parts of the country.

To address the situation, a state of emergency was declared in several regions on Sunday, which has continued into Monday.
As a result, schools in these areas have been cancelled.
The emergency services and residents are facing a major challenge as fallen trees and broken branches are blocking the streets.
This has been a major concern, and they are working hard to clear the debris and ensure the safety of the people.
