Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, known as D’Tigress, has made it to the basketball event of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The team achieved this feat after defeating Senegal with a score of 72-65 in their first game, while Senegal lost to Belgium with a score of 66-92 at the ongoing FIBA Olympic Qualifying Games in Belgium.
Despite losing 109-44 to FIBA 2022 World Champions, U.S.A, D’Tigress managed to book their place in Paris due to their opening game victory.
With Belgium’s victory over Senegal, the U.S.A. qualified as World champions.
Nigeria and Belgium also qualified for the event despite one game in hand.

The Rena Wakama-tutored side has been receiving congratulatory messages from all sides as basketball enthusiasts pour encomiums on the team.
Queen John-Moseph, a basketball enthusiast, praised the team for their hard work and perseverance in earning their place in Paris.
She said, “Congratulations to the Nigerian team, this was a hard-fought competition, and with one game in hand, they are already there in Paris.”
Nigeria is scheduled to play against Belgium on Sunday evening, while the U.S.A. will take on Senegal to round off the Olympic qualifiers for their group.
