The former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili has reacted to the Federal Government ordered to demolish the ‘All Eyes on the Judiciary’ billboards’ nationwide.
Crux News reports that ‘All Eyes on the Election Tribunal Judges’ narrative started as a social media campaign by the supporters of the Labour Party, LP Presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.
The campaigners are alleging plans by the judiciary to favour the incumbent President Bola Tinubu.
The Federal Government, however on Tuesday, ordered the demolition of the billboards across the country. Saying that the advertisement was a blackmail of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The government also dissolved the Advertising Standard Panel, ASP, secretariat over its approval of the ‘All Eyes on The Judiciary’ advert.
Reacting to the development on Wednesday in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ezekwesili insisted that the Nigerian Judiciary constitutionally owes citizens absolute judicial independence, transparency and integrity.
While condemning the removal of the advert, Ezekwesili described the FG as misguided regulator. Saying digital billboard is cheaper.
