Comedian and actor, Adebowale Adedayo, also known as Mr Macaroni, has revealed why he believes Afrobeat singer Wizkid disrespected Mavin Records boss, Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, by referring to him as an ‘influencer’.
Speaking on Wednesday during a live show on Wazobia TV in Lagos, Macaroni explained that while Don Jazzy is indeed an influencer – perhaps the biggest entertainment influencer in Africa – the context in which Wizkid used the term was disrespectful.
“Don Jazzy is an influencer and perhaps the biggest entertainment influencer we have in Africa,” Macaroni said. “He has had a massive impact on the entertainment industry, from music to film. His influence is undeniable, and he has been doing it for years, from working with the likes of D’Banj, Wande Coal, and Dr Sid to launching the careers of new artists through Mavin Records.”
Macaroni described Don Jazzy as a champion and great influence whose impact on the growth of the music industry cannot be overstated.
“He doesn’t just influence music; he also influences content and films. All you need is for him to collaborate with you, and his millions of followers will see your content.”
However, Macaroni took issue with the way Wizkid used the term ‘influencer’ to describe Don Jazzy, saying it was disrespectful.
“The way Wizkid worded it, saying ‘I can’t chat with an influencer’, that’s what we find disrespectful.”
As previously reported, Wizkid sparked controversy on social media when he mocked Davido and Don Jazzy in a series of tweets, leading to a backlash from celebrities, including Cubana Chief Priest.
