Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to fellow musician Oyindamola Emmanuel, also known as Dammy Krane, demanding the retraction of defamatory statements made on social media.
The ultimatum conveyed through a letter by Davido’s lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, warns that failure to comply will result in legal action.
The letter stems from recent posts by Dammy Krane on his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he made disparaging remarks about Davido’s upcoming wedding to Chioma Rowland.
Krane suggested that Davido’s decision to marry Chioma was only because she caught him cheating, tweeting,
“Never get married because your girl caught you cheating, you want to carry suffer look, congratulations owe b owe.”
He further claimed that Davido could not enjoy his wealth in peace, which sparked significant backlash from fans on social media.
In the letter, Davido’s lawyer stated,
“We write to you on behalf of our esteemed client, Mr David O. Adeleke, OON, popularly known as Davido, and we have his firm instructions to issue this correspondence in the terms set forth herein. Our client is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, global celebrity, philanthropist, and recipient of the prestigious National Honour of the Order of the Niger (OON).”

The letter continued,
“Our client has informed us that you have repeatedly published statements on your social media platforms that are not only defamatory and offensive but also constitute cyberbullying. While in Abuja, our client became aware of your latest defamatory post on June 21, 2024, on your X page @dammy_krane, where you insinuated that our client is a murderer. This is a serious and false accusation that our client vehemently denies. He has never been charged with or convicted of any crime, including murder.”
The lawyer highlighted the malicious intent behind Dammy Krane’s posts, citing a subsequent tweet where Krane taunted Davido, saying,
“HE CAN’T SUE BECAUSE I SPEAK THE TRUTH OPONU,”
despite knowing the allegations were false.
The posts, viewed by over 342,600 followers and syndicated globally, have led to significant negative reactions and comments, with Davido trending at No. 1 on X Trends for Nigeria.
The letter demands,
“Within 24 hours from the date of this letter, remove and retract the offensive publication from all your social media platforms. Immediately refrain from any further publication of defamatory statements against our client on any platform whatsoever. The conflict between Dammy Krane and Davido escalated due to alleged unpaid debts by the Grammy award nominee, adding another layer to their public dispute.
