Nigerian music icon Davido has announced plans to donate ₦300 million in 2024 to orphanages and a charity dedicated to preventing drug abuse among young people. The funds will be distributed through his Davido Adeleke Foundation (DAF), which he founded in 2022.
In a statement via Twitter, Davido shared, “Once again, my birthday this year, we’re donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is ₦300 million. Details to follow soon.”
In 2023, DAF contributed over ₦200 million, benefiting 13,818 children across Nigeria. This tradition of philanthropy began in 2021 when Davido raised ₦200 million through public donations and added ₦50 million from his funds to support orphanages nationwide.
