The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has raised concerns over recent suggestions from Dangote Group.
According to the agency, Dangote is pushing for the cessation of fuel importation in Nigeria and directing all marketers to source fuel exclusively from his refinery.
A spokesperson from the NMDPRA commented, “Dangote wants us to stop the importation of fuel and direct all marketers to his refinery. That’s not good for the energy security of Nigeria and business.”
The agency argues that relying solely on a single refinery for the nation’s fuel needs could pose significant risks to Nigeria’s energy security. Diversifying fuel sources is seen as crucial for ensuring stable supply and competitive pricing in the market.
