Dana Air has temporarily relieved some of its employees from duty amidst an ongoing operational audit by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), following the recent grounding of its operations.
According to Kingsley Ezenwa, the carrier’s Head of Corporate Communications, this move is part of a collaborative effort between Dana Air and regulatory authorities to ensure strict compliance with aviation standards and regulations.
“As the audit progresses, Dana Air has decided to temporarily relieve some staff members of their duties pending the completion of the audit,” Ezenwa stated.
The airline’s management expressed gratitude to its employees for their resilience and commitment during this period of uncertainty, acknowledging the challenges they have faced and assuring them of efforts to swiftly address the situation.
Dana Air reiterated its commitment to fully cooperating with authorities to expedite the audit process, providing updates and support to its staff throughout. It also disclosed ongoing discussions with lessors and engagement with stakeholders to address the situation.
Amidst these developments, Dana Air urged calm and understanding from its dedicated staff and stakeholders.
Last month, the NCAA suspended Dana Airlines’ Air Operator Certificate (AOC) citing “elevated safety concerns” following a runway incursion incident involving one of its aircraft. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated, with the airline promptly briefing relevant authorities about the incident.
