Foreign Minister Wang Yi of China is set to embark on a diplomatic tour of Africa, beginning on January 5, 2025, and concluding on January 11. This visit will include stops in Nigeria, Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, and Chad, reflecting a long-standing tradition.
A Tradition of 35 Years
Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, announced this diplomatic engagement on Friday, emphasizing that this marks the 35th year in a row that China’s Foreign Minister has chosen Africa as the destination for the first overseas visit of the year.
