Carlos Alcaraz currently ranked second in the world, has marched on to his twelfth semi-final appearance this season with an impressive performance at the China Open.
In a match against the seventh-seeded Casper Ruud, Alcaraz initially fell behind in the first set but managed to recover and secure a 6-4 6-2 victory, thanks to his exceptional play.
Alcaraz demonstrated his skills by hitting 30 winners and breaking Ruud’s serve four times to secure his spot in the semi-finals.
After the match, Alcaraz expressed his delight with his performance, saying, “To be able to beat a player like Casper in straight sets is really good. It means you are playing well.”
He also added, “Being able to find solutions after the start of the first set, this kind of match gives you extra confidence.”

In the semi-finals, Alcaraz will take on Italian Jannik Sinner, who managed to overcome Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 3-6 6-2 to secure his spot.
The other semi-final will feature world number three Daniil Medvedev and eighth seed Alexander Zverev.
If Alcaraz manages to reach the final, he could potentially face Medvedev, who ended his journey at the US Open semi-final earlier this year.
