The club issued a statement expressing full support for the FA’s doping controls and confirming that all players, including Mudryk, undergo regular testing. Chelsea emphasized that Mudryk has denied any intentional use of banned substances and that both he and the club will cooperate with the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.

In response to the news, Mudryk took to Instagram to express his surprise and dismay. He confirmed that he was notified about the presence of a banned substance in his sample, describing the situation as a “complete shock.” He reiterated his innocence, stating he has never knowingly consumed banned substances and is actively working with his team to understand how this could have happened. Mudryk remains hopeful about returning to play soon but due to the confidential nature of the process, he could not elaborate further.
Potential Consequences
According to UK Anti-Doping guidelines, athletes could face a ban of up to four years if found to have intentionally used banned substances. However, if the substance was present due to contamination or if it was a specified substance with no significant fault on the athlete’s part, the penalties could range from a two-year suspension to a mere reprimand, based on the degree of fault.

Mudryk has appeared in 15 matches for Chelsea this season, with his last outing being a 2-0 victory against Heidenheim in the Conference League on November 28, where he scored one of his three goals for the campaign.
