The National and State House of Assembly elections petition tribunal sitting in Kano on Thursday nullified the election of Tarauni Federal Constituency member, Muktar Yerima, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) over certificate forgery.
Crux News recalls that Yerima was declared the winner of the February 25th 2023 election under the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), defeating the former member of the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hafizu Kawu.
Kawu petitioned the tribunal, challenging the legitimacy of Yerima’s victory on the basis of a fake certificate.
However, in its ruling on Thursday, the three panel justice upheld Kawu’s petition and nullified the sitting NNPP member’s election.
