Jide Kosoko is a veteran Nigerian actor, director, and producer born on January 12, 1954, in Lagos State, Nigeria. He hails from the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island, earning him the traditional title of Prince or “Omoba” in Yoruba.
Kosoko began acting as a child in 1964 in the television production “Makanjuola.” He drew inspiration from Hubert Ogunde’s success and later performed with the Awada Kerikeri group, alongside notable actors like Sunday Omobolanle and Oga Bello.
In 1972, Kosoko formed his own theatre troupe and went on to write and produce his own films and stage plays, including “Ogun Ahoyaya.” He gained prominence during the Video film era with productions like “Asiri n la” (1992) and “Asewo to re Mecca.”

Kosoko has endorsed several brands, including Chivita, MeritAbode Limited, and Western Lotto. He received a nomination for Outstanding Male Actor in Love Castle at the 2021 Abuja International Film Festival.
In his personal life, Kosoko was married to two wives, Karimat and Henrietta, and has six children: Bidemi, Shola, Temilade, Tunji, Muyiwa, and Tunde. He is also a grandfather.
