Manchester City’s star midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, has recently been the victim of a burglary in his 70-acre Belgian home.
The unfortunate incident took place while he was away on a club assignment in Saudi Arabia.
According to Belgian news outlet HLN, the burglary took place between 4 pm and 9 pm on Saturday, during which burglars used a stepladder to break into the first floor of the property.
Although De Bruyne, along with his wife and three children, were not in his Belgian home at the time of the break-in, the incident left the entire family in a state of shock.
An official from the local prosecutor’s office has stated that “everything was turned upside down,” making it unclear what exactly the perpetrators have stolen.
However, it appears that mainly jewellery has been taken.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the forensic laboratory has already arrived on-site for a trace investigation.
The authorities will also conduct a camera and neighbourhood investigation to determine who the perpetrators are.
It is not yet clear who is responsible for the burglary.
The timing of the incident is also unfortunate for De Bruyne, who missed Manchester City’s match on Saturday against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium due to an injury.
The midfielder travelled with the team to Saudi Arabia that same night.
