In Minna, the capital of Niger State, a one-story building collapse has led to several individuals being trapped, prompting emergency response efforts. As of now, seven individuals have been rescued and are currently receiving medical attention at Minna General Hospital. The incident occurred at the bustling New Market Area.
Efforts are underway for manual debris removal, with plans to mobilize machinery swiftly to aid in the rescue operation. The immediate cause of the collapse remains unknown.
According to Hussaini Ibrahim, Director of Information and Special Duties at Niger State Emergency Management Agency, the rescue operation is ongoing.
Bako Ismail, General Manager of Niger State Urban Development Board, revealed that the building was illegally converted into a multi-story structure despite repeated attempts by the board to halt such conversions.
