The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has officially announced the commencement date for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.
According to Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of the Nigeria Office, the examination will kick off on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, and conclude on June 24, 2024. This announcement was made at the WAEC Lagos Office on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Dr. Dangut reassured stakeholders of the council’s preparedness to conduct the examination, which will span seven weeks and six days. He emphasized that the examination would be administered in four WAEC member countries: Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra-Leone, and Liberia.
Furthermore, Dr. Dangut highlighted the collaborative efforts between WAEC and various stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Education, State Ministries of Education, Nigeria Police, and other security agencies, to ensure the integrity and smooth administration of the examination.
Expressing gratitude for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, Dr. Dangut reiterated WAEC’s dedication to delivering credible examinations for Nigerian students and the public at large.

He encouraged candidates to adequately prepare for the upcoming examination, assuring them of WAEC’s commitment to facilitating a conducive and fair examination process.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Dangut stated, “We are set for the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates in 2024 in Nigeria.
The Council, in collaboration with various stakeholders, remains committed to its mandate of conducting credible examinations for the Nigerian Child and the general public.
