Saratu Gidado, a veteran actress of Kannywood known as Daso, passed away in her sleep during the Ramadan fast.
Her family confirmed her passing to a local Kano radio station on Tuesday.
She was discovered deceased after returning to bed following Sahur, the pre-dawn meal for those fasting during Ramadan.
Daso was a distinguished member of the Hausa film industry for more than 18 years until her death.
