President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to leave Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, to participate in the inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Faye.
This was announced in a statement titled ‘President Tinubu to attend inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect Bassirou Faye,’ released by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, this will be Tinubu’s first visit to the country since taking office, upon the invitation of the Senegalese government.
Ngelale stated, “He will join other regional leaders to witness the inauguration at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday.”

Accompanying the President will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, among other top government officials.
Following the inauguration, President Tinubu is slated to return to Nigeria.
At 44, Faye secured a victory with over 54 percent of the votes in the nation’s postponed presidential election.
