President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed Chukwuemeka Woke as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.
The announcement of Woke’s appointment came through a statement released on Thursday by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu appoints managing director of Ogun-Osun River basin development authority,’ highlighted Woke’s extensive experience as a “seasoned engineer and politician who has served as Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State and as Chief of Staff at the Government House in Port Harcourt for many years.”
The Ogun–Osun River Basin Development Authority, one of the 12 River Basin Development Authorities created by the Federal Government under Decrees 25 of 1976 and 31 of 1977, operates as a parastatal under the Ministry of Water Resources. It was officially inaugurated on July 4, 1977, by Ibrahim EI Yakub, the then Federal Commissioner (Minister) for Water Resources.

President Tinubu has expressed his expectation that Woke will fulfill his responsibilities with integrity and adhere to the highest standards of transparency. His role includes harnessing and developing the water resources of the region and ensuring that the Authority facilitates comprehensive industrial, agricultural, and community development.
Woke, who previously served as chief of staff to Nyesome Wike, the former governor of Rivers, was one of the commissioners who resigned from the cabinet of Siminalayi Fubara, the current governor of Rivers state, on December 15, 2023.
