Nigerian disc jockey Anuoluwapo Sanni, known by her stage name MaskQueen DJ Bella, has become a legend behind the turntables. On Monday, she spun her way into the Guinness World Record books for the longest live-streamed concert by a DJ, a monumental 250 hours.
This awe-inspiring marathon began on Thursday, April 28th, and concluded in the early hours of Monday, April 29th, at the Festival Conference Hotel in Lagos. For an incredible 11 days, DJ Bella kept the virtual party going strong, with only short 5-minute breaks to recharge.
DJ Bella’s elation at achieving this record-breaking feat was palpable. “I’m incredibly honoured to be a pioneer of such a groundbreaking event and to represent my country on the international stage,” she beamed. “This is more than just a concert; it’s a celebration of music, culture, and the unwavering human spirit.”
But DJ Bella’s ambitions go beyond the record books. She aspires to be a role model for others, especially young girls and aspiring female DJs. “Being a female DJ hasn’t always been easy,” she acknowledged. “This achievement isn’t just mine, it’s for all female DJs and aspiring young girls around the world. It’s a powerful message that anything is achievable, regardless of gender or background.”
The impact of this achievement extends far beyond DJ Bella herself. Her manager, Emmanuel Eseigbe, spoke about the significance to the Nigerian music industry. “MaskQueen DJ Bella’s record-breaking attempt is a symbol of the creativity and innovation that defines Nigerian music,” he declared. “This is a momentous occasion, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase her talent to the global audience.”
The Nigerian DJ community has also joined the chorus of congratulations. Fellow Nigerian DJ, DJ Jimmy Jatt, was among the first to celebrate Bella’s success. In an Instagram post, he proclaimed, “Bella has broken Guinness World Records for the longest live Streamed concert by a DJ, congratulations.”
DJ Bella’s record-breaking marathon is a testament to her dedication, immense talent, and unwavering passion for music. It also serves as a powerful source of inspiration for aspiring DJs, a celebration of Nigerian music’s global influence, and a reminder that with determination and hard work, anything is possible.
