The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has successfully intercepted 21 vehicles reportedly stolen from Canada. The seizure occurred at ports in Lagos and Rivers States, showcasing the agency’s heightened vigilance in combating the smuggling of contraband into the country.
According to Customs officials, the vehicles were concealed among other goods to evade detection. Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicles, ranging from luxury SUVs to sedans, were part of an international smuggling operation.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, commended the officers for their diligence, stating that the operation underscores the agency’s commitment to protecting Nigeria’s borders and ensuring compliance with international trade laws.
The vehicles have been impounded, and further investigations are ongoing to trace the masterminds behind the operation and their collaborators within and outside Nigeria.
Customs has also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving imported vehicles.
