President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, from the office with immediate effect.
Her suspension was announced in a post shared on X, by the National Television Authority, NTA, on Monday.
This is coming hours after the President ordered the appropriate authorities to investigate the financial irregularity involving the diversion of N585.189 million meant for the vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos states to a private account by the Minister.
This led to a widespread outrage and a call for Edu’s sack and prosecution.
