Labour has achieved a landslide victory in the UK general election, with Keir Starmer set to become the new prime minister.
Labour is projected to win 410 seats, while the Conservatives are expected to secure 144 as the final results are tallied on Friday.
Although the official results of the UK’s national election are still being counted, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conceded defeat to Labour Party leader Keir Starmer on Friday morning.
Sunak conceded shortly after retaining his seat in the House of Commons, acknowledging that the election night was “difficult” for his Conservative Party, ending their 14-year tenure in power.

“The Labour Party has won this general election, and I’ve called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory,” Sunak said in an early morning broadcast.
The outgoing Prime Minister apologized for the loss and took responsibility for his party’s defeat, ensuring a smooth transition of power from the Conservatives to Labour.
“Today, power will change hands in a peaceful and orderly manner, with goodwill on all sides. This should give us all confidence in our country’s stability and future,” said Sunak, who became prime minister in 2022. “I am sorry. I take responsibility for the loss.”
