Unidentified gunmen kidnapped Emeason Chima, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in Enugu State. Chima, who serves at the RS4.211 Ugbokolo unit, was abducted near Maduka University in Nsukka while driving alone. The assailants have demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for his release.
The abduction has raised concerns over the security of FRSC personnel who play a vital role in ensuring road safety across Nigeria. Local police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are intensifying search efforts in hopes of a swift and safe recovery.
As investigations proceed, the Enugu State government has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
A senior FRSC official in Enugu confirmed the incident and the ransom demand. The agency is collaborating with security forces to ensure Chima’s safe and prompt release.
This abduction highlights ongoing security challenges in the South-East region of Nigeria, particularly along the Enugu-Nsukka axis. The area has experienced a series of kidnappings and attacks by non-state actors in recent times.
