The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is poised to bring former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, his daughter, Fatimah, and two other individuals to court for arraignment on Thursday.
The charges stem from an alleged N2.7 billion contract fraud uncovered within the Aviation Ministry during Sirika’s tenure.
This marks the first time the embattled former Minister will face trial, as he is set to appear before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Alongside Sirika, his co-defendants, including his daughter Fatimah, Jalal Hamma, and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, are scheduled to appear in court.
The charges against them revolve around accusations of abusing their positions to facilitate money laundering activities amounting to over N2.7 billion.
The EFCC’s move underscores the intensifying efforts to address corruption within government institutions and hold accountable those implicated in fraudulent practices.
