Comrade Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), is to be flown abroad for medical treatment following the injuries sustained in Imo state on Wednesday.
CRUX NEWS reports that Ajaero on Wednesday mobilize Imo state workers for a protest rally in Owerri, over an alleged violation and abuse of the rights and privileges of workers by the state government.
The protest, however turned violent with allegations that thugs emerged and descended on the protesters and labour leaders.
The NLC president was also arrested by the police and later rushed to the hospital in Owerri.
Giving an update on the development on Thursday, the NLC publicity secretary, Benson Upah, said the Ajaero could not be treated at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri because of the nature of the injuries he sustained during the scuffle, hence the need to flown him abroad.
