Ryan Fox, a golfer from New Zealand, made an incredible comeback after a triple bogey to win the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Sunday.
He managed to edge out Tyrrell Hatton and Aaron Rai, both of whom were England’s home favourites, by finishing on 18 under, with a birdie on the last hole.
At the beginning of the day, Fox was three shots behind the overnight leader Ludvig Aberg.
However, when he dropped three shots at the third hole, he appeared to be out of contention.
Nevertheless, he recovered with a couple of birdies and finished strong with a back nine of 31.
Hatton had led by four shots through his opening 12 holes, but Fox managed to overtake him in the end.
“I certainly didn’t think I’d be talking to you (as the winner) after the third hole today,” Fox told Sky Sports. “To have a back nine like that, especially how I started, was amazing.”

Aberg, who will make his Ryder Cup debut later this month, had a disappointing round of 76, which caused him to fall behind.
In contrast, Spain’s Jon Rahm finished strong with a 68 for a 16 under total, one ahead of Ryder Cup teammate Viktor Hovland and two clear of another Ryder Cup player Tommy Fleetwood.
Rory McIlroy, the world number two, caught fire in his fourth round with a 65 to finish at 13 under.
Interestingly, seven European Ryder Cup players finished in the top 10.
It is worth noting that Fox had never managed a top-10 finish at the Wentworth event before, but he arrived in good form after a finishing tied third at last week’s Horizon Irish Open.
He is the first New Zealander to win the tournament.
Overall, Fox’s victory was an incredible achievement, and it demonstrated his resilience and determination to succeed.
